Solomon Promise

Data and AI engineer

I build data products for public health and tools that make technical learning stick. I made Deep Learning Lab so these course notes become something you can run, test and remember.

Background

Most of my work turns messy programme data into dashboards people can act on: readiness for electronic medical records across states and facilities, primary health care indicators, and maps that show where support is needed most.

Alongside that I build learning products, including Ulowe, a platform for hands-on, project-based learning. Deep Learning Lab grew out of the same question: what would a course look like if nothing were left for the learner to figure out alone?

Why I built this

Course notebooks hold everything you need, but they ask a lot of the reader. I wanted every idea explained in plain English, drawn, animated and tried in a live lab; a question at the end of every section; and a daily review so it stays learned. This site is that, built from the course notebooks, with an AI tutor beside every lesson.

This site

Deep Learning Lab is generated from the course notebooks: 8 modules and 41 lessons so far, 69 interactive labs, a checkpoint after every section and a daily review. An AI tutor sits beside every lesson. It is a plain static site, so it needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser. The source is on GitHub.
